Being a bit obsessive compulsive about certain things, I am re-swatching.
I was not quite satisfied with the Cascade 220 yarn. I felt as if I were fighting every stitch (through sixteen swatches) as well as having a problem with splitting. In over thirty years of crochet and knitting, splitting yarn has never been a problem for me. I know many people love Cascade yarns, I also know I won’t be using it again.
I found some Knit Picks Wool of the Andes on sale at my LYS and already feel calmer as I begin redoing my swatches. This yarn is happy to help me achieve master knitter status.
Moral of the story: always listen to the yarn! If it is fighting you, try something else.
I adore all things Knit Picks
First time I’ve used it and I am definitely going back for more!
I’m using bulky Wool of the Andes and I’m loving the yarn as I knit it into an afghan.
Good luck with your swatches!
Thank you. It is going so much better already and no splitting, even on the cable swatches 🙂
If the yarn was splitting, you definitely needed to find better quality. I assume you want to show your best work for the swatches, Annie
I always thought Cascade was good quality but I sure had trouble with it. My new swatches are looking good so far. Peggy
